i know this is random.
i tend to be this way from time to time:-)
this bugger of a thought has been stuck in my head for awhile now...
...all of you folks that couldn't/wouldn't shut up about darfur, why are you now talking to me about the olympics?
??????
duh?! i am not watching the olympics this time around! maybe they can hold the next one in the congo or iraq?
i am not trying to be funny, i am just saying...
SELF LOVE~SELF ACCEPTANCE~SELF RESPECT

I saw the Olympics and I was proud for the Jamaica in the track and field for a small country, they did extremely well!
hi Felicity-
welcome back.
sis, i think you missed my point, and that's ok.
i am glad that you and others are enjoying the olympics. when i speak of the crimes against humanity perpetrated in darfur, i am serious. china has played a major role in the wickedness. china hosting the olympic games was the powers that be way of making sure that we understand that the loss of nonwhite lives do not count. kindda like the way they don't count the iraqis when they report the death tolls of the iraq invasion.
i do not support it at all. i will not watch the olympics nor discuss it with anyone for this reason. as all things are related...black women must excercise the muscle of walking away from those things that are directly tied to our degradation, exploitation and death. our collective refusal to consume with conscience, consciousness, and principle plays a great role in non stop assault we are cowering under today---world wide. in all things, we are either a part of the solution or part of the problem.
this little diddy of a post was my way of saying to all of the "activists" that now want to talk to me about the china hosted olympics---what's up with that?!
a sidenote:
black folks have always excelled at entertaining the masses. we have centuries long demonstrated a great capacity for jumping, running, singing, dancing, joke telling, drumming, strumming, ball throwing, ball chasing, etc. it is now past the time for black folks to demonstrate that we can now think. strategize. work together. stand on principle. do for self. i will tune in when i see the collective push towards these life sustaining pursuits.
thanks for dropping in and sharing Felicity.

I agree with everything you said--I am dumbfounded by the apathy about China.
never give up
and hats off to phyllis wheatly on this day
IW-
welcome back!
yes, there has been great apathy. i, too, am alarmed and have committed myself to NOT going along to get along.
my son informed me that the olympics were over a little while ago and i say not a moment too soon! his viewing pleasure was disrupted at my house by a lesson in conscious consumption. we either support the de-population of africa or we don't. we support our destruction or we don't.
i will personally gag when the "activists" come out of the woodworks again. now that they are done watching the olympics and supporting the atrocious crimes against humanity by their refusal to turn the t.v. off and walk away, what's next?
it saddens me that our need to be entertained takes precedence over our humanity. ??? i don't get it.
blessings sis,
