know your enemy...

the ancient chinese warrior Sun Tzu taught his men to "know your enemy" before going into battle.

for if "you know your enemy and know yourself," he wrote, "you need not fear the result of a hundred battles."

but, Sun Tzu warned, "if you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat."---the art of war

"yes, i know my enemies
they're the teachers who taught me to fight me
compromise
conformity
assimilation
submission
ignorance
hypocrisy
brutality
the elite
all of which are american dreams
all of which are american dreams
all of which are american dreams
all of which are american dreams
all of which are american dreams
all of which are american dreams
all of which are american dreams
all of which are american dreams"

Hi Ms. Focused,

First day I've had the time to post since last week.

Knowing one's enemy is a quote I live by. Its just a good way to live. To know who is for you. Who is against you. And who just do not give a d*mn (which means they are not to be trusted).

Imagine if more of us had this thought pattern of knowing the purpose of those we allow in our lives. Publicly and personally.

Got that right!

That is the first rule of battle, to know who are your friends and who are your enemies. On point, as usual.

i am a black woman in america. it is in my best interest to keep folks guessing. my mother taught me to hold my cards close to my bosom:-) underestimation is like the invisible suit of clothing. i love it! integration ain't all that bad as long as you don't get caught up. you can sit and study behavior. throw in smiles and it is all good...reading is fundamental:-)

Aya, BWU, Tasha-
welcome back sisters. yes, one must know their enemy. it is essential to victory! it never ceases to amaze me how many choose to overlook this universal truth...

blessings all,

Focused Purpose,

Hello! This is my first visit to your blog and what a nice surprise I had to see that you posted one of my favorite Rage Against the Machine videos. I've been a fan of theirs for years now. My husband and I both got a little chuckle out of seeing it. Thanks! ;)
